HWN Energy, Ltd. is currently seeking to fill the following position:

Job Title: Facilities Technician

Location: Calgary

Reports to: Facilities Manager

The Facilities Technician provides technical and administrative support to the Facilities and Operations teams to ensure the efficient execution of facility construction, maintenance, and optimization projects. This role supports project managers by coordinating documentation, tracking project progress, managing vendor and contractor information, and assisting with regulatory and operational reporting. The Facilities Technician plays a key role in ensuring projects are well organized, documentation is accurate, and internal stakeholders have the information required to support safe and efficient facility operations.

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

Project Coordination

  • Provide coordination and administrative support for facility construction, modification, and maintenance projects.
  • Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, and tracking of key milestones.
  • Maintain project documentation including AFEs, cost tracking, project files, and contractor documentation.
  • Track and monitor project expenditures and assist with budget and invoice reconciliation.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain and organize facility drawings, engineering documents, and technical records.
  • Coordinate updates to P&IDs, plot plans, and facility documentation as required.
  • Assist with preparation of project reports, internal updates, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support the management of operating procedures and facility documentation.

Vendor and Contractor Coordination

  • Assist project managers and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers to obtain quotes, track work progress, and ensure documentation is complete.
  • Assist with contractor onboarding, safety documentation, and required compliance paperwork.
  • Track contractor invoices and ensure alignment with approved project budgets.
  • Should be a task here about maintaining vendor lists and compliance ratings, and completing rate comparisons.
  • Also another task about maintaining PetroSight and coordinating training for PM’s and Construction Inspectors.

Operational Support

  • Assist the Facilities team and work with the facility group to track maintenance programs and work orders
  • Support coordination between field operations, engineering, and project management teams.
  • Help maintain records related to facility inspections, regulatory compliance, and operational reporting.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation management, project tracking, and reporting processes.
  • Support implementation of systems and tools that enhance efficiency within the Facilities group.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Diploma or certificate in Engineering Technology, Process Operations, Project Management, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in oil and gas facilities, engineering, or project coordination roles.
  • Experience supporting facility construction or modification projects within upstream oil and gas operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AFE tracking, capital project documentation, project reporting tools, and contractor coordination is an asset.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and support several projects simultaneously
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and document management systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, operations, and project teams
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
